David Ortiz receives visit the child who promised a home run.
Just when Maverick Shcutte thought it could not feel anything more exciting than seeing David Ortiz fulfill his promise to hit a home run to his name, the six year old had a great experience while visiting Boston.
The best time to Maverick was making the release of honor before the last game of the series against the Athletics Red Sox at Fenway Park. Of course, Ortiz was the receiver.
But there were other great moments for the child, who was born with a heart defect that has resulted in more than 30 operations in his short life.
The young slugger amateur and shared time at the stadium 12 days after Big Papi flew close to Maverick name the same night the legend of the Red Sox and the boy exchanged greetings by video.
"He's been smiling since he got here," Ortiz said. "This is a six year old boy has suffered enough. More than 30 surgeries in six years. He's a hero. He has been able to overcome all those bad moments."
First baseman for the Red Sox, Hanley Ramirez, Maverick also gave one of his autographed bats. Ortiz and other Boston team member gave numerous gifts to Maverick.
